Revival of 114 bed DHQ Hospital, Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa

During the month of July/August heavy monsoon rains created great havoc across the country and within a few days, one fifth of the country’s territory was covered with flood waters. Millions of inhabitants became homeless on both sides of River Indus. Flood waters not only damaged the important infrastructure, houses, agriculture and human lives but also destroyed health facilities in the area.

In this state of emergency, Rawalians Overseas Foundation shifted all its resources to help the flood victims. The 114-bed Government hospital at Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa was submerged in flood water and its equipment was damaged. ROF in collaboration with NUST/Army/RMC/Holy Family Hospital team worked for the revival of this hospital. We replaced all its damaged equipment, provided medicines and made the hospital and OPD operational within two weeks. Besides this, food was also provided to the homeless flood victims.

A team of doctors comprising of Prof. Muhammad Umar, Prof. Bushra Khar, Brig Arif Siddiqui – NUST, Dr. Nadeem Afraz – Chairman Rawalian Overseas Foundation, Dr. Raja Shafique Sarwar, Dr. Masood Parvez, Dr. Muhammad Farooq and Dr. Zahid Mahmood Minhas worked around the clock for the restoration of the DHQ Hospital. Rawalians from UK and UAE also joined the team and emergency department. With all this help, the medical department, surgery ward, operation theatre, labor rooms were made functional.
